Robert D. Quinn

Waterbury - Robert D. “Bobby” Quinn, 71 of Waterbury, unexpectedly passed away on Aug.15, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved child of Patrick F. and Edith Lewis Quinn of Hartford.

Bob was born in Hartford but having been diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth, has spent the major part of his adult years living in Waterbury, most recently at the RMS Group Home on Meriline Avenue.

Bob was a unique individual, to say the least. He was the life of every party. He thoroughly enjoyed life and the opportunities that were provided to him. Having worked at several locations in Waterbury over the years, he made many friends. He attended many workshops and day programs. He enjoyed clothes shopping with the Group Home’s staff and would never pass up the opportunity to buy a new hat.

He leaves behind three cousins and their families, who care deeply for him, Patricia Quinn Flaherty and her husband William Flaherty of South Windsor, Richard J. Quinn of Vernon, and Raymond J. Quinn and his wife Mary Ann Quinn of Glastonbury.

We would like to express our gratitude to The State of Connecticut DDS and their Case Manager James Campbell for their support over the years. Also, many thanks to Residential Management Services Area Director Paula Doolittle for providing Bobby with a wonderful home; and most of all, to the two RMS Home Managers Karen McCandies and Lakiah Thomas who loved Bob and acted as his surrogate parents, they have our endless appreciation for their kindness. It will never be forgotten.

Friends are invited to call at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral and burial services will be private.
