Waterbury – Mrs. Sabija Umer, widow of the late Vedat Umer, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 5th at Waterbury Hospital.
Sabija was 64 years old, born in Ohrid, Macedonia, daughter of late Raim and Adifet (Dika) Sali. She is survived by her son Senol Umer of Waterbury, her daughter Senaj Nasit and her husband Minur, of Watertown, CT. Her daughter Tulaj Lacka and her husband Besnik, of Secaucus New Jersey. Two brothers Sabit and Sebaedin Sali and sister Neziya Arif, all from Ohrid, Macedonia. Sabija was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, Aylin, Kenan, and Selma of Watertown, CT and Janan and Hamza of Secaucus, New Jersey.
She loved spending time with her family here and visiting her family in Macedonia. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking sweets. She worked at the Timken Company in Watertown for many years. She will be missed by all.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday September 6th at the New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury and American Turkish Islamic Cultural Center in Thomaston.
