Waterbury – Virginia A. (Gilmore) Venditti, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, at her home.
Virginia was born February 13, 1937 in Waterbury and raised in Newport, RI, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Griffin) Gilmore, Sr. Virginia was a proud longstanding member of the LAOH and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. She had retired from the City of Waterbury Pension and Benefits Office. Ginny loved her trips to the casino and Newport with her family, she enjoyed vacations in Milford and bowled in leagues at both Parillo’s and Sena’s bowling alleys.
She is survived by three sons, James P. Venditti, Jr, John P. Venditti and his wife Jeannie and Joe P. Venditti and his girlfriend Sue Pendziwater; three daughters, Rosemary Callahan and her husband Gene, Beth Ann Caouette and her husband John and Karen L. Grendzinski; her grandchildren, Katherine and Jeremy Hanson, Patrick and Kristen Callahan, Kelsey Grendzinski, Sarah and David Andrzejewski, Justin Caouette and Stefanie DelBuono, Kimberly Grendzinski, John Venditti, Jr, Katie Grendzinski, Carly Venditti and Jacob Grendzinski; her great grandchildren, Adalyn Cavanaugh, Tyler Callahan, Chase Grendzinski, Ryan Carusillo, Brooke Callahan, Sean Hanson, Madeleine Hanson and Cayden Caouette; her sister-in-law, Susan Gilmore and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Gene Francis Venditti, her brother James F. Gilmore, Jr, her son-in-law, John Grendzinski and her ex-husband, James Venditti, Sr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Edmund Caporaso, Dr. Paul Kelly, the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital and the Staff of Vistas Hospice.
Calling hours will be held this evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday morning, September 24, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Baldwin St. Please meet at the church (Parking is available in the church lot on Xavier St.) Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery. All Covid 19 protocols will be enforced in the funeral home and church.
